Aderinokun Charity Cup: Daleko FC, Ewekoro Utd, Evolution and Santos SA to battle for final spots

Action continues in Olumide and Stephanie Aderinokun Charity Cup even as the football competition edges nearer to its closing stages.

The tournament sponsored by Olumide and Stephanie Aderinokun Foundation has been engaging youths in Ifo and Ewekoro Local Government Areas under Ogun Central Senatorial District since its very first game on October 3.

Four teams have advanced into the semi-final stage after securing wins in their quarter-final outings on Saturday.

It was a smooth ride for Daleko FC who renewed rivalry with their group opponents Abatan FC with a 3-0 win. Alabi’s brace and Okanlawon Kabir’s opening goal sealed a comfortable result.

Daleko FC are one of the dominant teams in the maiden edition of the competition with their impressive results. After finishing as joint-leaders with Abatan FC in Group A, they defeated Eruku FC 4-1 in the round of 16.

Elsewhere, Ewekoro United had to wait for penalty shoot-out to overcome Ultimate FC by 4-2, after both teams played out a 1-1 draw at the end of regular time.

It was the second time Ewekoro United settled for penalty shoot-out in the competition, after they beat Onikoko FC 5-4 on penalties in the round of 16.

Despite being a cagey contest, Santos Sports Academy continued their winning run in the tournament as they edged Chosen Generation by 1-0.

Oyekan Ade separated the two teams with the only goal of the encounter. Santos SA are yet to lose a game in the Charity Cup, they finished atop of Group B with nine points from three games and they proceeded to the knockout round where they defeated Dynamite FC 1-0.

The final quarter-final fixture saw Evolution outpower All Saints FC with a 3-1 victory. Femi’s effort was not enough for All Saints as Jimoh Yinka’s double and a goal from Salako Wasiu secured Evolution’s passage to the last-four.

The quest for the final spot will begin on Monday with Daleko FC scheduled to play Ewekoro United at the NUD Field in Ifo while Santos SA will take on Evolution for the second semi-final fixture on Tuesday at the same venue.
