Daleko FC and Santos Sports Academy will battle each other for glory in the final showdown of Olumide and Stephanie Aderinokun Foundation Charity Football tournament on Wednesday.
After negotiating their way past 22 teams, Santos SA and Daleko FC will face off in Itori Comprehensive High School with a grand prize of 350,000 naira at stake for the winner.
Daleko secured their place in the final game after Abiodun Lukmon’s effort from the spot gave them a 1-0 win over Ewekoro United. Santos SA, on the other hand, endured a tough outing against Evolution FC and waited until after 120 minutes of football to advance.
Following a 1-1 draw at the end of extra-time, Santos SA came out victorious with a 4-1 lead via penalty shoot-out.
After sharing Group A dominance with Abatan FC, Daleko FC progressed to the round of 16 where they saw off Eruku FC with a 4-1 triumph. The quarter-final draw pitched them against Daleko FC as both teams renewed rivalry but they cruised to a 3-0 win.
Meanwhile, Santos Sports Academy established themselves in the competition with back-to-back wins that helped them dominate Group B and progressed to the knockout phase as group leaders.
They edged Dynamite FC 1-0 in the round of 16 and Oyekan Ade’s lone goal powered them to a 1-0 win over Chosen Generation in the quarter-final.
