Aderinokun Unity Cup: All you need to know about Obafemi-Owode football competition

After over two months of competitive matches for bragging rights and scouting of talents in our second football competition in Ogun Central Senatorial District, the stage is now set for the crowning of the best footballing artisan association in Obafemi-Owode Local Government.

When is the final game?

The closing ceremony of the 2022 Aderinokun Unity Cup for Artisans will take place on Sunday, December 11. The ceremony will start with a third-place match by 2pm and the final fixture immediately after the play-off.

Who are the finalists?

Barbers’ Association will face off against the Association of Bricklayers at the N.U.D Primary School field in Owode-Egba. For the third-place game, Association of Electricians and Nigeria Automobile Technicians Association (NATA) will lock horns against each other.

What is the prize money?

As announced by our co-founder, Chief Olumide Aderinokun at the draw ceremony on August 25, the winning team will walk away with the cash prize of ₦250,000 while the second-placed team will have ₦150,000 then a cash prize of ₦100,000 for the third-placed club. Meanwhile, all participating teams who did not make the top three spots will get a consolation of ₦25,000.

How many teams participated?

A total of 20 artisan associations in Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area participated in the football competition. They include Poultry Farmers association, Association of Tailors & Fashion Designers, Nigerian Institution of Surveyors, Association of Computer Operators, Premier Lotto Operators, Ogun State Barbers’ Association, Plumbers’ Association, Nigeria Automobile Technicians Association, Association of Bricklayers, Association of Professional Drummers.
