Aderinokun Charity Cup for Ifo and Ewekoro youths enters knockout phase

Olumide and Stephanie Aderinokun Charity Cup has advanced into the round of 16 stage with Segun Odegbami Football Academy among the eliminated clubs.

The tournament organised for youths in Ifo and Ewekoro Local Government Areas in Ogun Central Senatorial District, started on October 4 and the group stage fixtures ended on Thursday evening.

Daleko FC and Abatan FC dominated Group A with their commanding displays that left both teams with seven points after three matches. However, Daleko took the first spot with a better goal difference (+6) compared to Daleko’s (+2). The two remaining clubs – Onyx and Pakoto had a point each and the same goal difference (-4).

In Group B, it was a smooth sojourn for Santos Sports Academy who enjoyed a perfect unbeaten run to grab nine points from three matches. Ilepa FC followed in the second spot with six points, while Bavis F.A and Concord FC shared a point each with the latter at the bottom after conceding the most goals (-6).

Meanwhile, it was a close contest for supremacy in Group C as Chosen Generation led the table with five points after three outings. The battle for the second spot saw Ewekoro United and Alaja FC go head-to-head with both teams picking up four points but the former came out on top by more goal difference (+2).

Ajax FC settled for fourth place with two points from three matches.

It was a disappointing outing for the academy of former Nigeria international Segun Odegbami who finished at the bottom of Group D with just a point from three games while Ultimate FC secured the bragging rights as group leaders with seven points followed by All Saints who sat in the second spot with five points. Eruku FC were ranked third with three points from as many matches.

In Group E, Evolution FC cruised into the round of 16 as leaders with seven points after three matches and second-placed Onikoko FC trailed by two points. Dynamite FC and Grassroots FA finished in the third and fourth spots respectively.

Following S.P FA’s withdrawal in Group F, the three remaining teams played two matches each with Isheri Olofin the first team to confirm their progress with four points and Olofin FC joined them in the last-16 after Amazing FC failed to honour Thursday’s game, which resulted in an automatic 3-0 win.

The next round will commence on Saturday with Daleko FC taking on Eruku FC at N.U.D Primary School, Ifo while Abatan FC have Isheri Olofin to battle that same day at Alaja Primary School, Ifo.
